Who is Jeff Tippett?
Known to many as Mr. Persuasion, Jeff Tippett is a subject matter expert on persuasive communications.
Speaking to international audiences through keynotes and seminars, Jeff helps attendees increase their effectiveness, gives them powerful tools to help reach their goals, and empowers attendees to positively impact their organizations or businesses.

He has worked with renowned brands like Airbnb, The National Restaurant Association, The League of Women Voters, The League of Conservation Voters, plus others. Other industry experts have validated Jeff’s work with numerous awards including the prestigious The American Advertising Award.
The heart and soul of Jeff’s presentations are the emotional story he tells of adopting his youngest daughter from Haiti while the country’s government was collapsing. Through this near death experience of navigating civil unrest and institutional bureaucracy in a third world nation, Jeff learned valuable lessons on how to persuade others without ever manipulating. Hit Your Target with Mr. Persuasion
At a young age, Jeff discovered entrepreneurship was in his DNA. He would knock on his neighbors doors advertising his yard services. Jeff was becoming a very smart businessman. Instead of doing the job himself, Jeff would hired his friends to work those gigs. Young entrepreneurship…, but Jeff and his friends were still young boys.
One day, after working a neighbors yard, Jeff and his friends decided to march into the wooded lot next to the house they had just serviced, to play adventurers. They gathered up sticks, old pine straw, and lit them on fire marching through the woods. Only to turn around to find they had set the whole woods on fire. Jeff and his friends were very much embarrassed, but the measure of success was “no one died.” Just a harmless triumphed march setting the woods on fire.
Entrepreneurship is not about being good at something and starting a business it’s about recruiting others. You hire people, you connect with people, you figure out how to create something that works. Not necessarily how to change a pipe, that is not entrepreneurship, that is a technician.
We throw the word entrepreneurship around so much that we lose the value of it. Entrepreneurs are creators, someone who really sees vision, and connects with that vision and dreams of what can be done.
What does doing good in business mean to Jeff Tippett?
Jeff adopted a little girl from the country of Haiti and went through the process of bringing her to the U.S. It was an extremely eye opening experience to understand the difference between manipulation and persuasion. Early on in Jeff’s career he was more about manipulation, no matter what the consequences were. When he was in Haiti manipulation did not work, it was a different culture with different barriers. Jeff began to understand the difference. Manipulation means we are trying to control or influence others or a situation, but we do it cleverly and unfairly. Manipulation is all about moving the needle, but at the same time we are doing it for our own benefit, our own self-interest.
Now, let’s contrast that with persuasion. When we call on others to persuade we use reasoning or argument. When two people share their ideals back and forth, overtime through sustained effort you come to the very same place and when that happens you look for two magic words; which identifies persuasion and not manipulation, “That’s right.”
When you hear those two words you know they want this just as much as you. They begin to see the good and value that it brings to them. That Is persuasion.
