About Carolyn & Gary Norris

Gary & Carolyn Norris know what it’s like to face challenges as entrepreneurs. They have experienced both success and failure more than once, including a business partnership going south, laying off employees, closing the doors of a once successful endeavor, losing three homes to foreclosure and finding themselves almost a quarter million dollars in debt, while refusing to declare bankruptcy.

As a result of their financial reset, their marriage hanging by a thread and their precious daughter trying to “check out” of life, they knew they had to “REBEL UP” and create something different, and that’s just what they did!

Those were trying times, but against all odds, they rebuilt their family, their marriage, their business and their brand, “Rebel Entrepreneur.” Now they spend their time helping others do the same!!

Through the vehicle of Real Estate they have infused the American economy with over $100 million dollars and in the process helped many families on their way to financial freedom. Gary and Carolyn have been investing in Real Estate full time for over 15 years. They have helped investors buy over 500 properties all across the country. They mentor and teach others to become successful investors and business owners and host their own monthly event called “The Rebel Entrepreneur Bootcamp,” where they provide the solutions and support entrepreneurs are looking for.

Gary and Carolyn are master connectors in both, Real Estate and business. They are one of the co-authors of the book “Entrepreneurs on Fire” with Barabara Corcoran of the ABC TV Show Shark Tank and Carolyn has been featured on The Hollywood Entrepreneur Show.

Gary and Carolyn have a zest for living an extraordinary life and love all the amazing opportunities living in Utah has to offer. They are the parents of 3 fabulous kids and have lived in Orem for the past 7 years.

Mission Statement: “Wake up determined and go to bed satisfied!! Impress yourself on a daily basis.” ???

Episode Notes: How to be a REBEL in your Industry!!!

(With lots of crazy stories and laughs.)

Bobby: Episode 90 everyone… and we get to celebrate it with the amazing and powerful Rebels. “WOOOO REBELS IN THE HOUSE BABY!”

Ryan: Gary & Carolyn Norris know what it’s like to face challenges as entrepreneurs.

Before we continue, we want to thank those behind the show. We have Cedric at the controls, Dontrell on social media and we want to give a shout out to our producer Ileana.

 (Bobby, enthusiastic as always)

Bobby: “ILEANA ROCKS IT!” You guys are going to see a ton of Ileana all the time. She is our eyes and ears on all of our social media platforms. SHE’S DOING IT ALL, SHE’S DOING EVERYTHING!

(Everyone laughs)

Ryan: That’s our Biz4GoodShow Team. It started out with two crazy guys and now it’s growing.

Bobby: Welcome to the Biz4GoodShow where two fun adventurous entrepreneurs share their experiences of the real secret to success. The business of doing all things with a be good do good mindset. FYI, tell Alexa to play the Biz4GoodShow and she will do it. I have done it and my kids are really tired of it.

Ryan: I don’t know if you are aware of this, but since it’s episode 90 the reboot of Murphy Brown from the 90s returns to television tonight September 27, on CBS. We would like to know your favorite shows from the 90s.

Gary: Seinfeld, I just love it.

Carolyn: It’s just a show about nothing it can go on forever…..(Laughs). To be honest, I am not that big of a TV person. I like to do stuff.

Ryan: Oooo a smack down.

Bobby: TV for losers….

Carolyn: (Laughs hysterically) Thats not what I meant. I do watch the Tonight Show every now and then.

Bobby: I lived on TV. I would have to say ALF… it’s a love hate relationship. But I have to say New Heart was my favorite by far.

Ryan: I enjoyed Saved by the Bell….

(Bobby looks concerned)

Ryan: Just kidding. I have the song memorized.

Bobby: You had me scared there Ryan.

(Everyone laughs)

Bobby: Okay back to the show. We are going to start out by having Carolyn and Gary tell us a little bit more about themselves.

(Carolyn jumps the gun)

Carolyn: I have to unfriend my husband from Facebook from time to time.

But my saving grace is that now he joined this private group called Nasty Politics. Gary gets all of his opinions out on Nasty Politics and now I don’t have to unfriend him anymore. It’s Really good!

Bobby & Ryan: Oooo you are one of those dudes.

Gary: I vent in a secret Facebook group, but on Facebook in public I am an awesome nice guy.

Carolyn: So when you talk about Biz4Good and you have a problem you just go and join a secret Facebook group.

Bobby: Yes.. that’s what Facebook is for. You don’t give it to everybody. You go and find a cool group where everybody has the same “I hate this.”

Ryan: I hate Peaches!

Bobby: Well you know there is a “I hate cilantro” group. Who hates cilantro? They literally want to ban cilantro.

Ryan: I am not that bad. I’ll let the peach-eaters eat.

Carolyn: I eat peaches. Its good we can sit by each other and get along.

(Getting back on track…)

Overview: Story Time

Gary attended the Consumer Electronic Show in the early 2000s, where all the latest and greatest technology was being revealed. Remember, this is also the time of disposable cameras. Digital cameras and selfies were non-existent. Gary was amongst 16 million people. A handful of people with cameras and video recorders began to swarm him, trampling him to the ground. Gary gets up, looks straight ahead, standing about 5 feet away from him was Bill Gates. Gary was in shock and decided to take out his disposable camera to document this “once in a lifetime moment.” He reaches for the camera, holds it up to his chest, clicks the button, and the flash beams across everyone. The crowd  turns to look at Gary. He puts his camera down and begins to slowly walk a way…. embarrassed.

Carolyn broke her arm before heading to Hawaii for vacation. The injury was not sever, so it was securely wrapped in a soft brace. Carolyn was determined her injury would not get in the way of her adventures. So as she was prepared to propel down an 80 foot waterfall, an employee supervising the guests said “I gotta ask, but what’s up with your arm?” Carolyn sitting there thinking… Well I don’t lie, but I want to go down thus waterfall. She responds with, “Well, hey. I just have this don’t ask don’t tell policy about my arm.” And the guy says “You know we have some of those ourselves. Go ahead.” Carolyn jumps off and begins to ponder his response “WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!” Safe to say, she is alive.

Garry and Carolyn have been married for 30 years and it has been such an accomplishment for them. They have been through a lot and they still love each other. I mean… they drove to the studio together in the same car. That says something, right?

Ryan: What does Biz4good mean to you or doing good in business?

Carolyn: Business for good is the only way to do good in business and the only way to have purpose in doing business. If you are not caring about other people then what the heck are you in business for? You are a problem solver, a solution maker, you are the person that pulls everything together.

Bobby: Unfortunately, we originally thought that was a no brainer but there are a lot of businesses in the world that do not get it. If you focus on the good you do your company will do better. I didn’t realize how much it’s not a no-brainer. That is why we have awesome powerful people like you guys on the show, that get it.

Gary: I noticed when we were invited to be on your show. We were checking you guys out and I noticed your hashtag (#) and I thought, “These guys are feakin awesome!” They # like I do. I always #Begooddogood, I mean #Dogoodbegood. We are like minded because we really believe that Biz4good means doing good and being good. Because if you are good, if you do good, good will come back to you, it is a law of the universe. It may not come back to you in ways you think it, or understand it, but it will come back to you. And if you live a good life you will be making an impact in the world for good. And if you can take that to business, that is the upper level, just being a good person in life and in business.

Bobby: Drop the mic… that was awesome.

(Phone rings…) Come on Ryan.

Bobby: What does the future look like for you guys? What are you creating right now?

Carolyn: For this year, we want to bring onboard a 100 people to help them go for financial freedom. Specifically, in this month we are looking for 10 people. We have a whole system in how we get you from A to B on the path to financial freedom.

Gary: To go along with what my lovely bride, Carolyn was saying. We do have a mission and a great desire to help a lot of people. Our mission is to help people do good and be good. That is why we were so excited to join you guys on your show. We spread the goodness that we have by helping people plug-in to whatever it is they are doing to teach them a better way to do it. This will help better serve others more. Including impacting and empowering themselves if they do it.

We do a lot of our do good and be good through real-estate, investing, training, and mentoring. That is our background. But we also do it in business entrepreneurship. We help people, whatever that may be we take it to a level that serves them best. We have this belief.. we were on a cruise ship and I went off on my own pondering life and I see the workers being busy bodies, cleaning, and making sure everything is ready for the guests and I thought to myself, “I own this ship, I own them.” I paid $750 for four days, to own this ship. Carolyn and I together paid $1,500 for those to come to our every need, service being 24/7. I noticed the power in that, and as a business owner and entrepreneur you do not need to start a business that is everything.

A rebel, as we call it. A rebel entrepreneur. You can plug-in the materials that are already working and the systems that are in place. All for a fraction of the cost. People don’t know how easy they have it when starting a business. There are so many procedures and steps already implemented for you. All you have to do is tap in and spread the word on your new founding business.

Bobby: If you want to start a business, dabble. Get your feet wet and do something on the side. Don’t go crazy and think you are going to create Facebook tomorrow. Learn about business by connecting with something that is doing all the fulfillment and all the other stuff. That is an awesome point.

IT STILL TAKES WORK and you do have to work your butt off to create something. I tell people all the time the secret to success is one word, two letters. Do! If you don’t do something you will never get anywhere.

Carolyn: And usually people don’t take action because of fear and everything you want is on the other side of fear.

Bobby: This leads to our final question. What kind of action item can you give our audience members?

Carolyn: One thing that I absolutely love for myself right now is enjoying getting up determined, going to bed satisfied, and looking in the mirror everyday and saying “Impress me.”

Ryan: That gave me the chills.

Bobby: I love that affirmation. Look at yourself in the mirror and “Impress me.”

Gary: You need to be committed if you are going to be an entrepreneur and do good and be good in business. If you want breakfast, you are going to have ham and eggs and think about who contributed to your breakfast. A chicken contributed. It laid an egg, it was committed. It gave its life for your breakfast and how do you relate yourself, your business, the good that you do in your community, or the ways that you raise your family, and the way you act amongst the people around you?. Are you committed to helping people or are you just contributing? There is a difference and I am not saying one is not good. I am just saying that one is a whole lot better, to be committed to a cause.

Bobby: You have to take action. That was a great way to end the show. PEOPLE! Take action and don’t just get ready to go. DO IT! JUST DO IT!!!

Thank you guys for being on the show, it was a blast. You guys are amazing.

Carolyn: Thank you. We had so much fun.

Bobby & Ryan signing off: Everybody! #BeGoodDoGood, #BeGoodDoGood, #BeGoodDoGood……
